Lately, there have been many issues with regards to
the upcoming Youth Olympic Games.
This would be the first Youth Olympic Games, and the first country that would host it
is Singapore. The Youth Olympic Games would start on the 14th of August 2010 - 28th of August 2010.
Over the radio, advertisements and all, they have broad casted about giving way to
Youth Olympic Games Vehicles. Why? So that the games can be carried out on time. To make the participants feel welcomed.
On these advertisements, they have also added that those that give way to these vehicles would be rewarded if spotted. The YOG vehicle lane would be lane 2. There are many Singaporeans that are against this.
They do not see the point in giving way. They feel that YOG vehicles should set out early if they are suppose to be sending youths to their various venues.
Some even mentioned about following the YOG bus or vehicle during jams as it might just be more convenient.
Disturbed Singaporean drivers and tax payers feel that it is a waste of money for those signs that have been put which was meant to indicate lane 2, a lane for the YOG vehicles. They feel that it is a waste of money as they stated that these paintings of signs would have to be removed, so why waste the time and tax payers money to paint them for just a short time.
For me, I feel that these lanes should be only reserved for these vehicles during non peak hours. Imagine jams that would be present during peak hours where everyone rushes for work, school and even returning home after a tiring day. Yes, we should give some good impression to the participants by being good hosts, giving way to the vehicles that will allow them to reach their venue for certain games on time, but we have to also consider our own people.
Thats all!
